Doris White, 76 of Harpursville, beloved mother, “Grammy”, and “Boss” unexpectedly went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sun. Oct. 31, 2010. Doris was predeceased by her husband, Frank. She is survived by a sister, Carol Reichel, Islip, NY, 6 children and their spouses, Doreen & David Forrest, Paris TN, Glenn & Debbie White, Harpursville, Jeanne White & Barry Baker, Durham, NC, Tim & Trish Lane, Modesto, CA, Gregory White, Harpursville and Meg White & Greg Lutz, Harpursville, 5 grandchildren, Brandon, Amber, & Kayla Lane, Jordan Baker and Kerri White and also many dear friends and colleagues. Doris was a caring and compassionate person who was lead by her strong religious beliefs. After raising her children, she returned to school for a degree in nursing serving as a registered nurse at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton. Upon retiring from nursing, she focused on her faith and ambition to serve the community and became a Lay Pastor for GuilfordCenter Presbyterian Church and most recently the Windsor Presbyterian Church. Doris also had a deep passion for tending God’s creations through gardening and traveling around the world.
Funeral Services will be held at the Nineveh Presbyterian Church on Friday at 11 a.m. Rev. Emrys Tyler, Pastor will officiate. Burial will be in NinevehPresbyterianCemetery. The family will receive friends at the Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Home 69-71 Maple Street Harpursville on Thurs. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nineveh Presbyterian Church Christian Ed Bldg Fund POB 115 Nineveh, NY 13813.
