Lawrence A. VanBarriger, 86, of Harpursville NY entered in God’s loving Care after a long illness on January 6, 2017.  He is survived by his loving wife Emma of 66 years, who cared for him each and every day during his illness, never leaving his side. Lawrence was predeceased by his parents: Etta and Chester VanBarriger, his brothers: Arnold, Chester (Ellen), and Norman (Kay), sisters: Berdella (Bud) Walker and Winifred Jacobs along with his loving grandson, Daniel VanBarriger. He was also predeceased by his father and mother In-law, Edward & Carmella Enourato, sister in-law, Mary Ongaro, and brother In-law, Richard Enourato.He is survived by his son Larry (Alice) VanBarriger, daughters: Carol (Chris) Ahearn, Cyndi (Bob) Cruty, Cathy (Kevin) Warner along with his loving Grandchildren: Larry, Eddie (Niki) VanBarriger, Jon (Liz) VanBarriger, Lloyd Jones, Jeff (Amy) Jones, Casie Stoddard, Chad & Corey Ahearn (Chanell), Angela Cruty (Chad), Julie (Mark) Richards & Justin Cruty (Brittany) and Jason (Nicole) Warner & Jennifer Warner along with his Great Grandchildren;  Anthony, Collin, Josh, Nicholas, Allison, Ryan, Alivia, Daniel, Brooke, Gage, Gavin, Carly, Kaylee, Brenden and Ayden along with several nieces and nephews, friends & neighbors. Lawrence was born in New Jersey, later moving to Harpursville, NY.  He was employed by the State of New York, Department of Transportation as a heavy equipment operator for 25 years. Upon retirement he was an avid wood worker & mechanic. Lawrence was a great country singer and guitar player and he loved karaoke.  He had a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and by all that knew him.  A special thank you to friends, Arlene and Larry Noyes who were always there to help, any time, day or night.

Funeral Services will be held at the Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Home 69-71 Maple Street Harpursville on Tues. at 4 p.m.  Pastor Sue Crawson-Brizzolara will officiate.  Burial will be in Knox Cemetery, Ouaquaga in the spring.  The family will receive friends at the Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Home on Tues. from 2 to 4 p.m. prior to service.  Expressions of sympathy may be made to Lourdes Hospice, mailed to The Lourdes Hospital Foundation Suite 103, 169 Riverside Drive Binghamton, NY 13905 or to the organization of your choice.  On-line condolences may be made at:   www.omaddenfh.com.
