Merritt L. Palmer Sr.

Of Harpursville

 

Merritt L. Palmer Sr., 82 of Harpursville died on Tues. evening July 25, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years. Mary, 5 children and their families, Wayne Sr. & Karen Palmer, CO., Merritt Jr. & Teresa Palmer, Elmira, Susan & Keith Eggleston, Groton, Barbara & Jeffry Pearce, Harpursville, Michael & Heidi Palmer, MA, 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, sister, Linda Breffle, Apalachin, brother Ward Palmer, Binghamton and also several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  He was predeceased by his 2 brothers, Howard W. Palmer & Wayne Henris, sister, Ruth Hayashi and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Palmer.  He was a retired employee of Amphenol in Sidney, life member and Past Commander of the Harpursville American Legion Post 1596, member of the Marine Corp. League and was a Recon Marine Veteran of Korea.

Funeral Services will be held at the Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Home 69-71 Maple Street Harpursville on Sat. at 10 a.m.  Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Harpursville with military honors.  The family will receive friends at the Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Home on Fri. from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Colesville Volunteer Ambulance Service (CVAS) POB 62 or Harpursville Fire Dept.
