Ron and I attended SUNY Brockport together and did our student teaching in Akron high school. We had some very memorable times during our brief stay in Akron. My condolences go out to the Henry family. I wish that I could have seen him more since our student teaching days. I don't know why I was thinking about him today but I looked his name up on Google and found his obituary. So very sorry to hear about his passing.

I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Henry was a great teacher. I can still hear him teasing us in class. He always made you strive to be better then what you thought you could be. He acted as both teacher and mentor and did both with humor and encouragement.

I have one memory but it will last with me always when the fire department was called to Alli's house and I as her back up was summoned to head down to meet them. Fully knowing you were there and everything was fine. I arrived at the exact time the authorities got there and we rang your bell. Smoke billowed out and I entered to see 4 kids at the dinner table and Alli's dad slapping his knee and laughing very hard. We all laughed while the kids looked bewildered wondering what was going on. I remember you said that Alli will not be surprised you burned dinner. I left and Alli's dad was still laughing.
Alli was so proud of her dad. She spoke of him often and during our bike rides I'd hear stories about when she was young. Alli is a wonderful friend to me and I'm grateful for her in my life.

We wish to offer you our sincerest sympathy for your loss of Ron.
So many memories return to us involving our relationship with Ron.
When we were beginning teachers, his mentorship and example as a "master teacher"was greatly appreciated. He was extremely serious about his profession, demanding high standards from collegues and students alike, but at the same time, was always able to make the educational environment a lot of fun.
On the personal side,we fondly remember the rowdy weekend pinnocle games, mutual construction projects, and practical jokes- especially as best man at our wedding.
Ron had a kind heart, sharp wit, keen intelligence - and always a twinkle in his eye! We are so saddened by the loss of a good man...and a good friend.

As I read through the condolences I'm made even more aware of Uncle Ron's gift of comedy and love. What an endearing legacy....to love people through laughter and the natural ability to entertain.
Some of my fondest memories ever are of the Christmases in Port Rowan. The warmth and wonder of people, food, pets and the chaos that followed Uncle Don getting out the cool 8mm camera. Camera plus spotlight equaled an instantaneous spike in antics, noise and face-making. I remember Uncle Ron sometimes participating and occasionally falling asleep through it all, sitting up, arms folded and in an armchair. Everything seemed right in the world of a kid. He had an amazing laugh, but some may not know that he also had a hidden strength. It was in his stomach, or at least we thought that as kids. His ability and willingness to withstand a hailing of "fists to the gut" from us as nephews was of superhuman status.
He taught history and coached softball, maybe more importantly was what we can learn from him through the stories of his life and his impact on people. That being a good guy is a good thing. Knowing a good guy is also a good thing. That's how I'll remember him.

Where to begin..Mr. Henry you were such an amazing person & will be sorely missed by so many. You & Mr. Hennessey made me LOVE history. You drove my passion for softball and always pushed us to be the best we could be. I hated the pre-season training you put us through but it was so worth it when we saw how much better we were than our competitors. So much of the adult I've become I credit to you and the lessons you taught us on the field & in the classroom. I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to spend my high school years learning from you. Thank you for always knowing how to bring the best out in a person.

Uncle Ron Henry was a guy that certainly touched ALOT of lives including myself.
I've read through what other people have said about his life and I can't help but think how the world was and still is a better place because of his example.
I can say that Uncle Ron really never grew up. That wasn't a bad thing. He was a master at fun while still being a caring man and seemed to easily motivated people to want to be "better"!
Christmas times were always more fun when the Henry family made it north of the border! Pictures of Uncle Ron wearing yellow paper crowns, bright red plastic lips with his customary huge grin are reminders of his sence of humour and enthusiasm for life. I always thought the waxed handlebar moustache was cool too!
One of the greatest legacies Uncle Ron left to me, is that he inspires me to be a better person and pursue the standard he was obviously known for! Thanks Uncle Ron!

In the "formative years" of WCDO sports coverage, I needed coaches who supported what I was trying to accomplish. Ron and his softball program came through! Our first Sportsmanship award went to pitcher Theresa Northrop....two years later it was the State Champs. We did the special radio show "the Legend of Delta Dawn" talking with all of the players. Tamara Kenfick was the Sportsmanship winner that year, and Carey Bowers was Athlete of the Year soon after. I kept coming back to Harpursville softball because the girls played the game the right way. And the camaraderie and sportsmanship were part of the package. Ron's influence there is everlasting. Great sense of humor and loyalty without wavering. My sincere condolences to the family. He has earned his gold and blue.

When I was a young boy growing up, Uncle Ron and Aunt Marilyn would come to Port Rowan in Ontario for holidays and weddings and various family gatherings... I'll always remember his infectious love of fun and laughter and pranks... and he was kind to us as children and took time to play with us. Everyone liked him! I'm not surprised by the number of messages sent. I remember one Christmas, he was running and sliding on the ice in the driveway with us. In his shoes! And when his feet went out from under him, and he landed on his hind end, rather forcefully, he struggled to his feet redfaced from the cold, but still laughing.
Sorry to see you go so suddenly Uncle Ron! I won't forget you.

we only met ron a few times but he was our granddaughter other granfather and she loved him so much .she loved going to grandpa rons farm and he treated her like gold she would set on his lap and i was told that they would both fall a sleep ; she and i have been praying for grandma marilynn and her mommy and she will say tell grandpa ron that i miss him and love him she will be lost without him and the animals . i pray that GOD gives you all the strength to get through tese trying times

Growing up, I remember how close my sister Susan and Allison were, how we'd stop by the house to visit and always see Mr. Henry busy doing something or other always seeming to keep busy.
Having him as a teacher, seeing how he coached those girls in for softball, I've always admired him, he always seemed to know how to get the right motivation and I loved how he always cracked a joke to brighten the mood.
My thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this terrible tragedy, it was such a shock for me to hear the news and I really wanted it to be just a bad dream that I could wake up from when I heard what had happened.
I'm sure that you are seeing how loved he really was from the entire community and only time will heal the pain that we are all feeling, may you rest in peace Mr. Henry.

To Those Who Knew and Loved Ron,
My heart aches to know that the world is physically without Ron Henry anymore: a man who was not only passionate about teaching and softball, but about laughter and people. Mr. Henry never failed to make me, and those around me, laugh - even when he caught me, incredibly late to class, sitting on a bench down the hall from his classroom - which was where I was supposed to be; and especially when he did things like dress silly and dance to "I'm Too Sexy" in front of the whole school.
Thankfully, the world is left a little brighter...a little kinder...and little more hopeful because Mr. Henry was here. So, even in the heart ache, I rest assured that even though Mr. Henry is gone, he is not forgotten...and that his laughter can still be heard in the halls of HCS, his home, and our lives.

Mr.Henry was not only my mentor in many ways but such a dear friend. I am so grateful for him being as stearn and driven with me, it was what showed me how to be the best person I could possibly be. The compassion and care he put into getting to know each and every person who entered his life. Acknowledging and praising their strengths to bring them to a place where their weaknesses were easier to accept and to improve upon. He was such an extraordinary man that there will never be another like him. With all my heart and soul I will miss him, but yet he will remain living in my many memories.

I've been filled with memories of the fun times that we had with Mr. Henry. I think the favorite memory of all, one in which I've shared with my children, and a lesson I've tried to emulate myself, is regarding how he coached us in softball. I've always thought that the reason we won States was because of Mr. Henry's positive attitude. It wasn't that he was cheerful, which he was. It was that the words that came out of his mouth, to all of us girls, was that we were the best. He always set the vision for us higher than we may have seen ourselves. I think we all could say that we had every confidence that he believed in us. That he thought we were the best. He was always encouraging.

I'm so sorry to hear about Ron's passing. He was a great man, teacher and friend. I enjoyed so many good times with him and the family. Following his teams in softball was always lots of fun as a sports fan of HCS teams. He truly loved the students at school and was dedicated to both being a teacher and a coach. Mr. Henry was one of those few teachers who you remember fondly for the rest of your life. I was lucky enough to be taught by him and am better for it. He was always quick with a nice word about someone and truly cared about his students. His passion for teaching was obvious to anyone who spent time in his classroom. He carried that passion to the girls he coached in softball as well. My condolences to his family. He will be missed by many.

Words cannot express the sadness of the passing of Ron Henry. Ron was a great teacher, coach and wonderful co-worker. He and I shared our birthdays and never let each other forget even though I was the "younger"!! We shared lots of laughs. I would see and talk to him at least once a week and when ever he was at Lowes he would get to see Travis and it is going to be a great whole in our Hearts to not see and talk to him but I know that he is in a much better place and watching down over everyone! I am so very sorry to hear that we lost Ron. He was a treasured colleague with a sharp (and sometimes slightly warped!) sense of humor. Ron, I'll never forget the faculty talent show we had back in '95 when we danced to "I'm Too Sexy" around you as you sat on a stool in the middle of the gym floor wearing your one-piece bathing suit. The kids LOVED it--and with you, that's what it was all about, wasn't it? Rest in Peace, Ron, and I know that, wherever you are, you're already taking over the history and softball lessons.

Words cannot express my deep sadness at the loss your family and the entire community is experiencing. Mr. Henry will forever be on my list as a favorite teacher and coach. He and Roger Hutchinson helped me transition from a "gangly" teenager into a functioning adult. Their compassion and humor made high school a happier place.
Mr. Henry took me smelt fishing, to Friendly's for a "pitchers and catchers" meal, didn't kick my tail when I fell asleep babysitting, and ate almost every after ballgame snack I brought on the bus. He teased me and always allowed me to tease back. All are special memories. But most of all he was a great man. Many of us are better for knowing him.
May God comfort you and give you peace knowing many love you and are praying for you.
