Winifred J. Layton

Of Harpursville

Winifred J. Layton (Winnie the Pooh) 77 of Harpursville passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer, Mon. Feb. 8, 2016.  She was predeceased by her husband, Robert S. Layton Sr., son, William (Willie), grandson, Robert S. Layton III, four sisters, Evelyn, Lillian, Beverly & Rosie, two brothers, Ernest & Bernard & both parents, Gerald & Madeline Hawkins.  Winnie is survived by caregiver/daughter, Dottie Walker, daughter, Deborah Hardik, three sons & daughters-in-law, Robert S. Layton, Jr., Richard & Nancy Layton, Donald & Roberta Layton, brothers & sisters-in-law, Milton & Candace Hawkins, William & Cheryl Hawkins, David & Gloria Hawkins, sister-in-law, Carol Hawkins, an aunt, Ruth Marano, 18 very special grandchildren, 28 very special great grandchildren.  Winifred enjoyed needlepoint, family gatherings, gardening, country music, family breakfasts, the casino, bowling and loved her children and her special friend, Oscar.  She was a retired employee of MacIntosh Labs after 34 years.

Funeral Services will be held at the Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Home 69-71 Maple Street Harpursville on Thurs. at 11 a.m.  Rev. Steve Doyle, Chaplain of Lourdes Hospice will officiate.  Burial will be in Chenango Valley Cemetery, Hillcrest.  The family will receive friends at the Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Home on Wed. from 5 to 7 p.m.   Memorial contributions may be made to Lourdes Hospice. 4102 Old Vestal Rd.
