Margaret B. Shelley, 93, left us to be with our Lord on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. Margaret (Peg) passed peacefully while at Elizabeth Church Manor, Binghamton. Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Donald, and son Craig. Margaret is survived by son Donald Lee & his wife Debbie, Hillcrest, NY., and son Marc & his partner Heidi Heifetz, Wilmington, VT., 3 grandchildren; Rebecca Shelley, Port Crane, NY, Brian Shelley & his wife Sara, Binghamton, NY & Forrest Welch, Milford, NH & 3 great-grandchildren; Lily, Scarlet & Sydney Shelley. Margaret and Donald spent a significant part of their lives living in North Carolina but returned to their hometown of Binghamton in 2000. While residing in Raleigh and Cary NC, Margaret worked for IBM, ITT Telecommunications, and a private medical office. One of Margaret’s proudest accomplishments was when she earned a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) degree while maintaining a household. Donald was the patriarch of the Shelley family … but only when Margaret granted him permission! Before returning to Binghamton, Margaret and Donald enjoyed their early retirement years in their homes located on Lake Gaston, NC and in Wake Forest, NC. Margaret will forever live in our hearts. The family expresses its deepest gratitude to all friends, health care professionals, and especially the staff of Elizabeth Church Manor who provided extremely professional and caring support while Margaret was a resident under their care.
