Burdette Lee Obituary

Bur dette H. Lee

of Afton

Burdette (Bud) Harry Lee, 89 of Afton passed quietly Thursday morning, April 12, 2018 at Chestnut Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Oneonta, NY.  He was born in Sinclairville, NY on October 24, 1928 to Wilber and Dorothy (Roberts) Lee.

He moved to Bainbridge, NY when his father took a position at the Borden Chemical Plant when he was 6.

Bud attended Bainbridge High School and enlisted in the army during the Korean War.

He was an avid swimmer, bugler in the Sidney Royal-Aires Drum and Bugle Corps, loved to roller skate and dance.  He was a sportsman, coach and Union Leader that touched a lot of lives. Bud enjoyed fishing, football, traveling and hobnobbing.

He married his high school sweetheart , Marjorie Silvey and fathered 6 children.

A hard working father with limited means didn't keep him from putting a roof over his family’s heads, finding a deal on his next vintage car and packing it up for an annual family camping excursion.  He loved planning things such as the annual community corn roast with the neighbors.

He was employed by Bendix Scintilla (Amphenol Corp.) for 45 years and retired in 2002

Bud remarried in 1980 to Marion Brackett of Afton, losing her to cancer in 1990.

He is survived by his brother Thomas H Lee, San Antonio, TX.  5 children, David Lee, Montana, Linda (Lee) & Jakkie Bickos, Unadilla, Kevin & Sue (Simonds) Lee, Rome, NY, Scott Lee, Williamsville, NY, Susan (Lee) & Richard Kern, Wisconsin,  15 Grand children, 8 Great grand children, 1 Great Great grandchild.  A daughter-in-law, Cathy (Williamson) Lee, his sister-in-law Judith (Smith) Lee, of Lewiston, NY, a niece and several nephews.

Along with his parents, Bud was predeceased by his infant sister, Shirley Lee, his brother, Robert E. Lee, a son, Keith C. Lee and his wives Marjorie (Silvey) Lee, and Marion (Brackett) Lee.

The family would like to thank the staff at Chestnut Park Rehabilitation Center and the staff at Hampshire House Assisted Living for their special care of Bud over the past 4 years.

Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Afton at the family’s convenience.
