WINDSOR Beverly A. Slack, 79, passed away at home, with family by her side, on Thurs. June 10, 2021. She worked thirty years as the lunch manager for the Windsor School District and was the owner and proprietor of The Cradle Furniture and Gift Shop for nearly forty years. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, James S. Slack and her daughter, Tammy Slack (Stacie Conklin), five nieces and nephews, several cousins and many many dear friends. For the special people who helped her, and her caregiver the last few years, Joanne Rickerson, she loved you all very much.
Beverly had unconditional love for her family and had countless friends. She was a second mom to the kids at the high school, paying for lunches when kids had no money or slipping them an extra cookie when they were having a bad day. Like her dad, she could sell anything. She could sell “ice to the Eskimos”, we’d say. Mostly though, she donated items from her shop to people in need and to neighbors across the street from her home.
Beverly enjoyed traveling to Lancaster to buy things to sell in her shop, going to garage sales and auctions, playing slots at casinos with her girlfriends, cooking and spending time with her dogs and with those she loved. She knew the value of spending quality time with people and that life is short and precious. She leaves a huge void in all our hearts and her wonderful spirit and never-ending optimism will be greatly missed.
Per Beverly’s request, there will be no services. Online condolences may be made at Osterhoudt Madden Funeral Home website at: www.omaddenfh.com. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Broome County Humane Society, 167 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13903. Arrangements by the Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Home 69-71 Maple Street Harpursville. A MADDEN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME.
