Edward was born on December 19th 1946 in Johnson City, NY to parents Betty and Robert Ellis. He graduated from Johnson City high school in 1964. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. After an honorable discharge from the Army, Edward was employed by Endicott Johnson Shoes and Felchar Manufacturing. He then retired and spent his time enjoying life with his family and friends.
In his younger years, Edward was a volunteer in the Harpursville Fire Department, a soccer referee and a foster parent for over 15 years. He very much enjoyed seasonal camping at Cook Park, hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, cards, corn hole, ladder golf and a can of Genny with his family and friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He had a wonderful sense of humor and laughed at himself as often as he laughed with others. There are not enough words to describe the man, husband, brother, son, father and grandfather that he truly was. Anyone who knew him has some kind of story to tell. He will be forever missed by all.
Funeral Services will be held at the Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Home 69-71 Maple Street Harpursville on Thurs. at 11 a.m. Rev. Ronald Wenzinger will officiate. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Afton. The family will receive friends at the Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Home on Wed. from 5 to 7 p.m.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate Edward’s life at a gathering following the burial, located at the first pavilion at Cook Park at 189 Parks Rd Greene NY. 13778.
