Gordon L. Warner Sr.
Of Nineveh
Gordon Warner Sr., 98, of Nineveh, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Friday Jan. 5, 2024, and was reunited with his son, John Rodney. Predeceased by his eight siblings, he is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Marjorie (Pierpoint) Warner; son Rev. Gordon L. Warner Jr. and daughter-in-law Barbara; daughter-in-law Audrey Warner; several nieces and nephews, and four grandchildren: Carrie (Wesley) Rowan, Dan (Cori) Warner, Chadwick Warner & Jared Warner; and six great-grandchildren: Keegan, Elisabeth, Madeleine, Matthew, Emily, & Leland.
Over the years his community knew him, among a variety of roles and interests, as a salesman, a dairyman, a custodian and bus driver for Harpursville Central Schools, a kindhearted farmer with unique ingenuity and a great sense of humor, and as a regular fixture with his friends at Henry’s Drive-In.
Gordon’s church family knew him as a faithful long-serving member of Community Bible Church, where he served on the board, drove the Sunday School bus, and used the gift of his rich singing voice -- all in attesting his faith in Jesus Christ which -above all- defined him.
His grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew him to be a source of wisdom and sound advice, a storyteller, a wealth of experience and know-how, and a tough yet tender Christian example who cared for and prayed blessing upon each one.
He will be dearly missed.
