John “Jack” Root
Of Windsor
John “Jack” Root, 95 of Windsor died Sat. March 14, 2026 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Monika, his children, Jackie (Steve) Worden, Alan (Kay) Root, Russ Root, Kenny (Amy) Root, Roger (Lin) Cleary, Richard (Megan) Cleary, Patrick Cleary, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Linda Root.
He lived a full, long life and was a devoted husband and father.
He was a proud, lifetime resident of Windsor, NY. He was a second generation dairy farmer and successfully ran Hillside Dairy for many years. After he retired from farming, he worked as a family care provider for 20 plus years.
He loved his vegetable gardens and he planted flowers all over the yard, so he could bring them in for Monika.
He built “Root Canal”, his own campground on the river. It had power and water for several campsites. Numerous family members and friends spent many summers there. The birthdays, holidays, parties and campfires were enjoyed by hundreds of people over the years. The memories he provided for everyone are absolutely priceless.
His generosity to his family and friends was unparalleled. We cannot put into words how much he will be missed.
