Larry Swartz Obituary

Larry D. Swartz

Of Conklin

It is with deep sorrow that we announce Larry David Swartz (68) passed away from chronic illness on Thursday June 19, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family. He was preceded in death by his father and best friend, Donald F. Swartz; his maternal grandparents, Catherine and Sidney Patten; his paternal grandparents, Eloise and Downton Swartz, and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Larry is survived by his loving mother, Lucille Swartz; his stepmother Stacy Schwartz; his brothers, Gene (Lynn) Swartz and Randy (Lorena) Swartz; his nieces, Jessica Zembek Kuhn and Taylor Swartz; his nephews, Gene Swartz, Corey Swartz, and Nicholas Swartz; and beloved cat Rocky.

Larry proudly served his country as a United States Marine from 1975 to 1979.  His service included being stationed at the Pentagon in the investigative department. His career outside the military included 39 years at International Paper in Conklin NY.

A true outdoorsman and lifelong sports enthusiast, Larry found joy in nature, bowling alleys, and cheering on his favorite teams. But above all, his greatest passion was his family. He was a constant presence at every game, match, and tournament his nieces and nephews participated in—whether it was baseball, softball, wrestling, football, or bowling, Uncle Larry never missed a moment.

Family gatherings at the lake, holidays spent together, and the everyday moments were made brighter by Larry’s signature sarcasm, and endless stories—especially those of childhood mischief shared with his brothers. His tales often ended with laughter and the familiar family refrain, “Larry, go to your room!” Yet somehow, with Larry around, the family always seemed to find just enough “good” trouble to make every get-together unforgettable.

Larry will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his big heart, his dedication to the people he loved, and the laughter he brought into every room. His spirit will live on in the memories shared, the games cheered, and the love he gave so freely.
