Louise C. Martin
Of Port Crane
It is with great sorrow, that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Louise passed away on Mon. Jan. 30, 2023 after an extended period of declining health. Born on Halloween to her parents, Thomas and Grace (McEnaney) Conroy. She was one of nine, who have all predeceased her.
She leaves behind her husband of 69 years, David S. Martin, her children, Janet (George) Tyler, Francis (Lori) Martin, Carole (Robert) Walentynowicz, her grandchildren, Gregg (Celeste) Tyler, Michael (Julie) Tyler, Christopher (Blanca) Martin, Gina (Adam) Martin, David Walentynowicz (Nathan Bayless) and Megan (Tatenda) Mbabvu, her great grandchildren who knew her as “Weezie,” Natalie & Sophie Tyler and Emiliano Martin.
She spent many years actively involved with her children as Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scouts, and Friends of the Chenango Valley Band. Then watching grandchildren & great grandchildren’s sporting events. She was instrumental in establishing Catherine’s Cupboard at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, actively involved in the Broome County Republican Woman’s Club, as well as the Broome County Republican Party. She served many years with political candidates in their campaigns. She was elected to the Town of Fenton Town Board, serving 16 years. She was active with First Night, Fire House Stage and the BC Pops.
She was very proud of her Irish Heritage.
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday Feb. 3, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Hillcrest at 12 noon. Burial will be in Port Crane Cemetery in the spring. The family will receive friends at St. Francis of Assisi Church on Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Catherine’s Cupboard 1031 Chenango Street Binghamton, NY 13901 or Fenton Free Library 1062 Chenango Street Binghamton, NY 13901.
