Mauro Daniel Mazza, Jr., born 1940 in NYC, died of natural causes on the morning of Aug 30, 2021 at the age of 80, at his home in Port Crane, NY and in the company of his younger son William. Known to friends as “Moe,” he was the eldest child of Agnes and Mauro Sr., spending his early years in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, Great Neck, NY, and the Bronx, before moving with his wife Patricia and two sons first to Binghamton in 1968, and then to the rural, hilltop acreage which he loved dearly, and where he passed. Moe was a skilled sheet metal worker, retiring as a member of Elmira / Jamestown Local 112. Ever-curious, Moe tried his hand at other vocations in addition to his trade, at different times owning a deli, an antique store, rental properties, and an ice cream shop before retiring to the farm where he spent his days gardening, talking, puttering, and mowing his yard and fields. He enjoyed the company of friends, cross-country skiing, fishing, and golf. Well-known in the many social establishments within reach of wherever was then-home, his often-unorthodox personality was many parts smart, funny, charming, and stubborn. He was quick with a joke or story, generous with his time, and loyal. Moe is survived by his two children Daniel and William, his siblings Steven, Barbara, and Daniel, and his siblings’ children and grandchildren. He will be missed.
