Michael Hawley Obituary

Michael Hawley

Of Nineveh

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael Hawley, 71, a man of great integrity and love. Michael resided in Nineveh, NY, and was formerly of Sidney and Harpursville. After a sudden illness, he gained his angel wings while surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 18, 2026.

Michael was born in Johnson City, NY, on September 20, 1954, to Earl and Margaret Hawley. He graduated from Harpursville Central School in 1972 and went on to work at Amphenol Aerospace, where he dedicated 35 years of loyal service as a machinist before retiring.

A lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, relaxing with a cold Budweiser, and spending time with his friends and family. His blunt humor and warm personality made him a joy to be around. He and his wife would have celebrated 39 years of marriage on May 9, 2026, and recently fulfilled a lifelong dream vacation to the Dominican Republic. His greatest pride and joy were his children and grandchildren, with whom he created countless cherished memories.

Michael is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Valerie, who provided incredible care during his final years as he battled Parkinson’s disease. He is also survived by his daughters, Wendy Cutting (Erik Olson) and Kimberly Kenyon (Joshua); daughter-in-law, Jen Fleetwood (Keith); sons, Darrick Hawley (Brandy) and Toby Cutting; and his beloved grandchildren, Zachary, Bailey, Dalton, Colby, Brennan, Liam, Keira, Isaac, and Javen.

He is also survived by his siblings: Rosemary Smith (Joseph), Linda Noble, Jerry Hawley, and Jim Hawley (Judy), along with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Known affectionately as “Mikey” by his closest family, he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Michael was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Margaret Hawley; his brother, Stan Hawley; his in-laws, Lorreta and Neal Mayes; sisters-in-law Laurie McCall and Sally Mayes; and brothers-in-law Kent Noble and Donnie Mayes.

Calling hours will be held from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Home, 69-71 Maple Street, Harpursville, NY.
