Roger M. Ives
of Bainbridge
Roger M. Ives, born on June 5, 1950 in Bainbridge, passed away peacefully at home on December 28, 2024. He was the fourth son of Marvin Ives and Grace Wade Ives of Guilford.
Roger married Nancy Sweet Ives on October 2, 2010. She predeceased him on November 8, 2024, just a few short weeks apart.
Some of you knew Roger from his many years of farming. He could often be seen driving his International Harvester tractor through Bainbridge, heading for a nearby hayfield. Perhaps you knew him from his Agway days, when he would deliver feed in his early years or later on delivering fuel oil or fixing a furnace on a cold winter day. Most recently, he was a dedicated bus driver for the Bainbridge-Guilford school district. All of you know him as a hard-working, storytelling friend.
He is survived by his children: daughters, Lorinda Butler (Jon Montano) Nedrow, NY; Tonya Burdick (Howard) Unadilla, NY; Elisha George (Christopher) Central Square, NY; and Freya Ives, Bainbridge, NY. sons, Christopher Ives and Logan Ives, both of Bainbridge, NY, step daughters Lisa Everett (Paul) Windsor, NY and Erin Kennedy (Frank) Harpursville, NY and very special friend and “bonus daughter” Brandy Butts of Bainbridge, NY, his grandchildren Morgan Piazza, Alec Burdick, Andrew George and Alaina George and great grandson, Luca Piazza.
In addition to his parents and Nancy, Roger was predeceased by his three brothers David, Alan and Phillip Ives.
Funeral services will be held at the Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Home, 69-71 Maple St., Harpursville on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 12 noon. Rev. Ron Wenzinger will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10am to 12 noon prior to service. Burial will be in Knox Cemetery, Ouaquaga in the spring. Come and tell a story about Roger as we celebrate his life with a memory and a smile, just the way he would want. Memorial contributions in memory of Roger may be made to a local charity of your choice.
