Rose Willumson Obituary

Rose Willumson of Harpursville NY went to rest Sabbath morning, October 21, 2023 at the age of 89 years and 10 months.  She is now awaiting the promised return of Jesus.  She was the beloved wife of Johannes (John) Willumson Sr. who pre-deceased her in April of 2009.  Rose was very active in her local Seventh-day Adventist Church.  An advocate for those in need, she loved children and derived pleasure in their childlike hearts.  Using the church as her base she served as Cradle Roll leader and teacher for years, community service leader, local ADRA coordinator, she taught countless vegetarian cooking classes, and prepared hundreds of holiday food boxes for the needy.  Rose was involved in prison ministries and was a prayer warrior.  Rose was instrumental in seeing that disadvantaged children could go to summer camp and was a driving force behind the application and operation of WLRF FM 94.3 a low power Christian Radio Station.

Rose loved her gardening and for years virtually every meal had its’ roots in her garden or the farm.  Rose was an avid reader and still found time to raise 8 active children & 2 grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her eldest daughter, Esther Bell of Perry, FL.  Rose is survived by one sister, Barbara and Manfred Munz, and her children John Jr & Linda Willumson of Harpursville, Susan Willumson of Skowhegan, ME, Thomas and Rhonda Willumson of Cleveland, TN, Timothy and Colleen Willumson of Murfreesboro, TN, Heide and David Conibear of Cleveland, TN, Hans- Peter, Lori Ellen Flores and Osman Flores of Clarkrange, TN

Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 16 grandchildren in-law, 23 great grandchildren, a great, great, grandson along with many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her father Henrick Lurig, mother Rosa Bechtle Lurig, sister Renate Mahler, and Brother Karl Heinz Lurig.

Always reminding her family of Christ’s promised return she leaves an expectant family.
