Serethia J. Merrick, 101 of Afton and formerly of Illinois died Mon. Nov. 1, 2021 at NYS Veterans Home in Oxford.  She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur B. & Susie (Crum) Howe, husband, Ret. Col. Theodore N. M.I. Merrick, US Army, sister, Yvonne Mae Moat, Brother, Harold P. Howe.

She is survived by a son, Arthur Wilbur, Carson, NM, granddaughters, Aleka & Michelle, 2 nieces, Deborah & Wes Morgan & Vicki & Bill Sjostrom, nephew, Robert & Kim McDaniels,  best friend, Dorothy & George Horak.

She was a retired Deputy Sheriff from Tucson, AZ & Cook County Sheriff Dept. in Illinois.

Funeral Services will be held at the Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Home 69-71 Maple Street Harpursville on Fri. at 11 a.m.  Burial will be in Nineveh Presbyterian Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the Osterhoudt-Madden Funeral Home on Fri. from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to service.  Online condolences may be made at:    www.omaddenfh.com.
