Mae Hinkleman, 85 of Harpursville died Sat. Dec. 19, 2015 at Willow point Nursing Home.. Mae was predeceased by mother Letta Kane and father Arthur Kane, as well as brothers Elston and Arthur Kane Jr., and sisters Daisy Marie Twining and Alice Orchard.  Mae was also predeceased by her loving husband of over fifty years, Carl Hinkleman. Carl passed away on July 4th, 2005.  Mae graduated from Harpursville High School. She was a dedicated employee of the same school for over thirty years.  She served as the Nurse Assistant and thoroughly enjoyed her service to the community in that role where she was well loved by all.  The first ambulance service in town – the Colesville Volunteer Ambulance Service – was also a byproduct of Mae’s dedication to her community. She was instrumental in planning and initiating the service. She took calls for the ambulance service for many years and trained others to perform the duties as well. Mae and Carl were also long-time members of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mae was a loving wife and mother to Luann Hinkleman Daniels and her husband,Alan and Judy Hinkleman Helsabeck and her husband, Eric, and grandmother to Eric Alan Daniels (Melissa), Keith Hinkleman Helsabeck (Allison), and Graham Kane Helsabeck. She is survived by her two daughters, three grandchildren, and also four great-grandchildren: Ayden Daniels, Tierney Daniels, Kainen Daniels, and Logan Grey Helsabeck.  She enjoyed camping in the Adirondacks with her family and friends, playing cards and dancing.  Of course her surviving family will miss her and honor her with stories too plentiful to count. But she will be missed by more than just her family. Mae was loved by countless neighbors and friends. Mae and Carl were a close and loving couple. A special thank you to Cathryn Ericson, Nurse Practioner for her care and comfort.
